'07 Fall Schedule Released; Heels Ready for Promising Season

The Team prepares for their Matrix match with Tennessee in Spring '07
by Rick Baker

Carolina Rugby enters its second season under the leadership of Coach Andy Richards and look to return to the National DI Sweet Sixteen tournament, a feat not accomplished since finishing with a national ranking of 8th in 2004. Newly elected Match Secretary Jason Schwartz has set up a challenging fall schedule, sure to prepare the boys in blue for the Spring '08 Matrix season.

Among notable home matches with USC and Appalachian State, Carolina travels to Blacksburg, VA in the early weeks of September to face a tough Virginia Tech side. The team also faces a number of Men's clubs, including annual fixtures with the Raleigh Vipers and Potomac Athletic Club, as well as a Fall Break tour to Charleston, SC to face the Charleston Outlaws. The NC State tournament is also a highlight on the season as the Heels look to avenge last season's disappointing result and emerge as North Carolina State Champions. The schedule is rounded off with always-tough Radford and a first-time match with Fort Bragg RFC.

With the announcment of the fall schedule come concrete goals for UNCRFC and gives the club something to look forward to as they continue their off-season training regiment.
