Tarheels gear up for new season
UNC's A side squad in the new National Guard kit
by Andy RichardsThis years UNC Men's rugby team A side squad will start the season with many young talented players and next week travel to Raleigh to play their oldest opponent in North Carolina State.
Despite being a Division 2 side, NC State won the last encounter between the 2 sides and the Tarheels will be looking to avenge that defeat in the State Cup 2 years ago. As well as ECU and App State, NC State are benefitting from the explosion of youth rugby and are programs that will surely become Division 1 sides in the not too distant future.
The A side squad consists of 4 Seniors, 5 Juniors, 8 Sophomores, 4 Freshmen and 1 exchange student from Australia.
Jackson Paterno has been selected as the A side Captain, and Derek Yates will lead the B side.
